Remodeling, Re-branding, & Renaming in 2023

Posted by Linnea Lindgren on Tuesday, November 14, 2023,
Hello everyone,
It has been an exciting year and a lot has changed!

This includes my name. My life have changed quite a bit over the past five years.
So many life changes have happened including a move to Iowa, starting my PhD program, getting a new job, and more!

I have enjoyed working and living here over the past two and a half years. I simply can't believe I have been here this long. Time seems to more illusive the older I get. With my new life, has come many unexpected changes. I have com...

New Art Journal Project: The Book of Rainbow

Posted by Stephanie Temple on Sunday, February 12, 2023,
Hello everyone!
I hope everyone is doing good this winter.
Over the past few years, there has been a lot of challenges to overcome.
Now, I am finally seeing the rainbow at the end of the storm. The last time I saw a rainbow was at a nearby lake in Alabama (Lisenby Lake).
Of course, I am no longer living in Alabama and currently reside in beautiful Iowa.
Over the past year, I have been completing my M.A. in General Psychology.

Whew! I can't believe that I will  graduate in March! I suppose I wi...

Times to Remember! 2021 Update :)

Posted by Stephanie Temple on Saturday, August 7, 2021,
Hello everyone!

It has been a very time since I've updated my blog.
So you probably have been wondering where I have been. A lot has occurred since I blogged last. I've updated the website. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get prints of my latest paintings. Life has been very busy for me over the past ten years. I am now working on my master's degree and redirecting my energy into graduate school. Take a look around at the new changes to the website. Like most things, it changes over tim...

New Artsy Waldorf Rhythm Chart

Posted by Stephanie Temple on Thursday, January 29, 2015,

I created our very own Waldorf rhythm chart yesterday. I am so thrilled with how it came out! I used some watercolor paper and secured the back with an additional piece of watercolor paper. In addition, I used some colored pencils and chalk pastels. Creating this has really taught me the idea behind rhythm.

Unlike a rigid schedule, a rhythm is more a "flow of events" that happen in a given time period. So you could have a daily rhythm chart, a weekly, rhythm chart, or even a yearly/seasonal c...

Autumn Waldorf Lantern Celebration

Posted by Stephanie Temple on Thursday, October 16, 2014,
To mark the turn of the season, in Waldorf education, there is always a celebration! Autumn wind is blowing, leaves are turning, and everyone spirits seem lifted and renewed. Where I live, the summers are harsh and very tropical feeling. Autumn is slower to reach where I live and is often short-lived. So in this special time, I decided to create a "Waldorf Autumn Lantern" to light the turn of the season. I did find many ideas on Pintrest, but none that actually spoke to me. I was looking for ...

Re-Vamping My Front Porch "Nicole" Style

Posted by Stephanie Temple on Saturday, August 16, 2014,

Recently, I have been taking a liking to furniture again. These two chairs were actually on the side of the road ready to head to the dump. I've been wanting to make my front porch more inviting without spending a lot of money while putting my artistic flair to work. So, I picked up a can a paint for around $15 with a primer, and started to reinvent these two 70's dump specials. I started out with "Cosmos Blue" and covered the chairs with two coats of paint. I then took some craft paint for a...

Photography & Art

Posted by Stephanie Temple on Thursday, August 7, 2014,

Recently, I had the opportunity to work with the "photography" medium.

Last year, I taught a simple but very beneficial course, "Introduction to Photography". It is published by Oak Meadow (a homeschooling vendor and school). And of course, prior to this course, I knew really nothing about techniques regarding photography.
So, in some ways, I learned while teaching the class. And of course one the best things about this class was discovering how each photo can be cropped and literally transfo...

Tiny Space Under the Stairs is Transformed Into a Toddler Reading and Writing Oasis!

Posted by Stephanie Temple on Saturday, May 24, 2014,

I recently took a double take at the space under my stairs. It WAS harboring all kinds of junk. And then I thought, "Why am I using this delightful little space as storage?". Sometimes, my artistic bug bites me from out of the blue and directs me into different projects. This time I used this creative energy to transform a very dull and hidden area under my staircase. For this project, I was limited in what materials I could actually used. I made myself use what I already had. This also made ...

Michaelmas: The Celebration of St. Michael the Archangel & Autumn

Posted by Stephanie Temple on Saturday, September 14, 2013,

The Feast of St. Michael
"Michaelmas" is the term we use in Waldorf schools to describe a feast or festival that celebrates St. Michael's defeat against Satan in Heaven. The festival is named for the Archangel Michael, conqueror of the powers of darkness, the harvester of the deeds of human souls.  It is also a time where autumn has arrived. A time where we build and strengthen our inner lives. The equinox is a turning point. This year we will be celebrating by making a dragon cake! The drago...

Homemade Goods to the Rescue!

Posted by Stephanie Temple on Monday, December 3, 2012,
This Christmas has seemed a bit "off". I am not sure why. This weekend I had a great time with a dear friend and we ended up going to do some shopping in a nearby town. As we went here and there, I really felt a little overwhelmed at the prices of items and then on top of it the poor quality and lack of original thinking that went into. Perhaps this is the artist coming out in me, but everything felt redundant and ordinary. This season I wanted to make a difference. Not in putting my buying p...

Baby Art

Posted by Stephanie Temple on Sunday, November 18, 2012,
Now that I have an eight month old son, I have discovered that babies love black and white images. These images artists refer to as "high contrast". Yesterday, I had a wonderful time just browsing the baby section at Barnes and Nobles. And to my surprise there were little art books that focused on babies. However, I did find this one book called "Art for Baby" Curated by Yana Peel. And I was super impressed with its contents. The book is a hardback book that has twelve black and white images ...

" One Hissy Night"

Posted by Stephanie Temple on Saturday, November 17, 2012,

Once upon a strange and very hissy night, there was this girl and all she could think of was getting out of sight. She looked to the left and then to right, and all was very strange on a very hissy night..

My newest illustration is now on the art wall. I had a lot of fun doing this one. Although, I am not a huge fan of cats, there is still this sense of mystery that surrounds them. We have all had our hissy days that leave the waters in turmoil, the winds whistling out of control, and all w...

A Real Woodland Spirit!

Posted by Stephanie Temple on Wednesday, August 10, 2011,
It is funny how imagination works. My daughter decides to use her's yesterday in the backyard. Our backyard is basically a small little forest nestled in the corner of our neighborhood. Of course, when bordem strikes, the imagination comes marching inward. But imagination does not have to stop at just painting or dressing up. This thought came to me as I was getting myself ready today. So many times we are called to use our creativity. Creativity really has no boundaries and this is what make...

Fairies fly from here and there and run into some big creatures...Mushrooms line the fairy coast and remind them of earthly things. Fairies have been always an interesting concept. I even found a discounded bottle of paint marked down to .99 cents. I took advantage of 2 for $5 on paint sets, a mixing tool pack, and markers. Of course, the markers are for my daughter wh...

The "winds of change" often take flight at the most unexpected times in our lives. When this happens, we just need to put our faith back in God. Lately, I have been seeing a lot of changes happen around me. One thing is for sure, change is the only constant in this world. When I painted "Wind of Change" last year, I was going through a lot of changes in my mindset about everything. My interest latey has been folklore. So, after reading on some Germanic folklore that lead me to other cultures and mythology. I found a "Kitsune" hiding in the bushes! In Japanese mythology, a kitsune is an intelligent being and as possesses magical abilities that increase with its age and wisdom. Foremost among these is the ability to assume human form. While some folktales speak of kitsune employing this ability to trick others—as foxes in folklore often do—other stories portray them...

Earlier today, I posted on FB that today I wanted to make it a day of progress.
